Creative Moments - its all about Layers......

Mortified my schedule didnt work this week ! Sorry folks.
Our challenge at Creative moments is all about creating layers.
I was bought this beautiful stamp by a friend and I just had to play with it.
The image is coloured using distress ink pens and the papers are by Prima and called Melody.
It was fun distressing all the edges - ages since I have done this sort of project so it was good fun.
Stop by Creative Moments and have a look at the layers my team mates have come up with some gorgeous creations to inspire you xx

More birthdays............

I do so love making cards with someone special in mind and here is another card for a birthday friend.
I just adore this crate paper pad which I have had for ages. Its called portrait collection. The designs are lush with a gorgeous "old" feel to them.
Teamed with the TH sewing room die and a sentiment from craft work cards which I distressed this will be winging its way very soon to someone I love very much x
I am so glad the weekend is over ! Not the usual cry from folks but as I worked the 4 days from Friday I didnt see much of the bank holiday at all.
Tomorrow I am teaching at Carers Resource who do a monthly event for carers to have a little dabble at activities.  I have a ladies and mans card card prepared so we shall see what folks would like to play with. I am betting on the ladies card as its a blingy little number!
Then off to meet a very dear chum for coffee. Our Megsy has baked her a special cake to say a big thank you for supporting her when she was stressing over exams. How fab to share friendships with your daughter.
Hope your day is filled with exciting things x

Another Jam packed birthday month

May like March is bursting with birthdays so lots of cards to make.  This one is for my friend Jacci who specifically asked for a Mabel Lucie Attwell card.  Good job I have this stamp then ,which was one of my first ever wins over at The Sunday Stamper challenge.
Jacci and I are huge lovers of anything spotty especially red so this was the colour choice.  her cute little rain mac looks fab in red spotty paper ! Paper piecing has to be one of the best techniques ever!
The paper and stamped sentiment are old retired sets from Stampin up and the round the page punch is my fav Martha Stewart one.
Jacci loved it anyway and I loved making it so thats all that matters xx

Hope you are having a crafty day today.  I am excited to be going to a local Restaurant for the first time.  Its one that is usually booked up well in advance but we managed to get in (I did book 6 weeks ago) and the celebration in Jaccis and my other Pal Julies birthday. No doubt lots of merriment to be had tonight !

Stampendous inspired !

I love tea pots.
I don't collect them or anything but I do love their shape and their symbol of Britishness - so when I saw the gorgeous teapot range from Stampendous I just had to have them.
I went for the King and the Queen teapots and do have a very special project in mind for them but in the meantime - inspired by this post here
I made this.
Now I have used SU whisper white ink but I am loving all the chalkboard effects created with different inks and embossing powders.

Thanks for the inspiration Stampendous !

Just playing...........

Which is such an utter novelty to be honest.  I was making a card for a challenge and decided I liked the look so much I would create similar for a box frame I had left over from another class.

This beautiful bird stamp is by Kaisercraft from a set called porcelain rose .  I have coloured with distress pens onto watercolour paper and created from there.
I do love the result which is also a gift The card will be showcased soon too so you will see where I began with the idea.
I am entering this into The Sunday Stamper challenge where the theme this week is old/ vintage
Thanks for stopping by today x

More makes from the retreat

This was a wreath  designed by my pal Emma - it was def a labour of love but I do know the ladies enjoyed it so much they are going to do it all again at home !
and here is one of my quick makes.  Lots of recycling on this project and the fab chalkboard effect with Stampin ups whisper white ink.
This was another well loved project that I know will be repeated once they are back in their own craft rooms.
Another busy week this week for me - I hope you have had plenty of crafty time.

Stampin up retreat May 2013

I have been busy - sorry about my long gap between posts but all my creating had to be secret until this last weekend.
My friend Emma and I hosted a Stampin up retreat at my usual retreat venue The Beamsley Project in Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire.
Our venue is clean, comfortable with shared facilities with a simple home cooked menu prepared from fresh by our very own Chef. Each one of our guests received £100 of Stampin up stash to use throughout their visit and take home the rest.
It cost just £190 per person.
Emma even made bought some gorgeous bags and personalised them in her own Lovelies style.
Here is 2 of the projects we made over the weekend - I will share more as the week goes on.

We wanted a little scrapbooking in the weekend - this was my version of this deep frame.
Emmas was totally different as was everyone elses! I love it when styles take over and the end product is so personal.
This was one of Emmas projects - I adored this totally and copied it shamelessly !
I have permission to do this with my ladies group so watch this space!
I totally love all the tiny little stamps involved in this project.
We had such fun this weekend and so look forward to doing a full Stampin up weekend in May 2014.

Hope your weekend has been filed with crafty fun too xx

Creative moments - use brads

I have tons of brads - went mad for them when I first started crating but hardly ever seem to use them.
The brad I have used on here is a gorgeous one by stampin up from a set called antique brads.
It was perfect for this simple card made at my very first Christmas card class of the year!
Yes you read right! Last Friday I had 10 ladies all brimming with enthusiasm to start on their Christmas crafting and start they did - 10 cards and 2 gift boxes in the day - phew!
I tried a new teaching method that's been in my head for a while and am thrilled it worked so well.  Everyone went at their own pace but with no hanging about waiting for supplies.

So hope you have some brads lurking somewhere begging to be loved again - dig them out and join in with us over at Creative Moments x
