Tuesday Taggers burst of colour

Wow we were all challenged this week to come up with the goods! Heres mine and as Ive left it so late doing the project Ive had to photograph with poor light! You can just about see i have sprayed brown card with mica sprays - what is difficult to see is Ive used red, gold, green and blue mica - The card really shimmers when tilted in the light. Ive mounted onto gold card, added a sentiment (from blonde moments) then spotted glossy accents around to glue micro beads on and the glass stones. Added fibre to give more colour.

The Craft Barn are our sponsor this week - do hop on over and take a look at their new look website here
They are a regular sponsor of Tuesday Taggers and our team love on line shopping with them - They are offering a £15 prize this week - so get your thinking caps on and get your burst of colours projects entered. Stuck for ideas then hop over to Tuesday taggers and see the variation of projects my fellow teamies have done.
Have a great day x Janet

More christmas

Yesterday saw our first Christmas card session at Embsay card club. I was so surprised to see the lovely Jo and Georgina turn up for the session too - brill I loved seeing them again xx
Heres a card I made yesterday. Dont know the stamp name as it was one from the demo cupboard but isnt he a jolly St Nick! Coloured with promarkers, flower soft added to his hat trim, stickles to his beard and the holly berries. Holly card from Kanban, ribbon from stash and Believe stamp I think is a snag 'em clear stamp. Distressed the edges of the image with some cut and dry that had peeled paint distress ink on.
We've got 2 more Christmas sessions planned, yesterday we played Christmas carols and the gorgeous Glynis brought mince pies. We would love to see you if you can make it on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month at Embsay crafts Nr Skipton. Ho Ho Ho Hope you can make it!

Mo's digital challenge

I wanted to make a card to go with the canvas so the ideal opportunity was to join in Mos digital challenge. The criteria is of course a Mos digi image and this week colours that remind you of Fall and only 2 embelishments.
This is such a cute image for Halloween isnt it? Ive coloured with promarkers and used my nesties for the matting and layering. Ive just used textured card ribbon from my stash and patties pretties glass stones. Saw this card a while ago on U tube so thought id give it a go as well. Im really pleased with the result and now Auntie Janet is all set for Halloween although I wont actually be here as Im going on the next craft retreat at malham Tarm Fieldcentre that weekend- Brilliant!
Hope you have a great day x Janet

Well its Tuesday again!

So that means it must be time for the Tuesday taggers theme! This week is ever so predictable given that its Halloween in 11 days time so brush off your scariest stash and join in with "Things that go bump in the night"! Here's my offering

Its a 7x7 canvas. Ive used acryllic paint for the colours and some of the Tim Holtz grungeboard for the characters. The pumpkins and ghost are painted with crackle paints then rubbed black ink in places to grunge it up. My neice and nephew are having a halloween party so i thought I would give them this for decorating the house. Should have used archival ink as the distress ink does not seem to be drying so may have to go back to that!
Well my fellow teamies have produced the goods yet again so hop on over to Tuesday Taggers to see what they have come up with!

The most fantastic day!

Well I have had the MOST fantastic day today. Ive been out with my crafty chums Michelle, Elaine, Barbara, Debbie and my Mum and were were met at The stampman by the most gorgeous Georgina and her beautiful daughter Joanne. I first met Georgina and Joanne 2 years ago on a craft retreat at Malham. I sat next to Georgina and we hit it off straight away - I just love her to bits and dont see enough of her. Joanne is also fabulous - both extremely talented crafters not to mention the high flying job Joanne does as a Lawyer!
Georgina always spoils me rotton and this is the gift she brought me today.

Looks inside the draw packed with goodies aw me love its gorgeous thanks sooo much xx

We watched a metal embossing demo at The Stampman - look out for more on Michelle's blog as she bought a set to do it. As always at Jill and Ian treated us to their best hospitality with cuppas and choc biscuits as well as a sale day - who could resist! so I have 2 more adirondack dye ink pads, some stickles, a background stamp, some eazi mount and a wooden frame to alter - brilliant thanks so much Jill and Ian we had a fab time!
Then back to my house for lunch - chicken and vegetable soup (homemade) and crusty bread rolls followed by doughnuts and Debbies fab flapjack and choc biscuits Yum!
By 1pm we were ready to go visit Embsay Mills for the demo day. Saw my crafty Idol Dyan in action with perfect pearls and her new paper range and various other brill stuff such as the paperartsy stamps and papers - they are so lush and available here . back to Embsays shop to pick up THE MOST AMAZING GOODY BAG EVER! then over to the pub for a very large glass of wine hic! I got quite fresh which was 'appen as well (a bit of Yorkshire in there im afraid)because my Mum found a grey hair on my head and pulled it out to show me - the wine helped to mask the distress a little!
Back to mine for more refreshments and a show and tell with our goodies.
I had a brilliant day girlies thanks so much for your company x

Over on Tuesday taggers Teri has added the mouse for you to snag. So if you havent got him already then hop on over now for a looksie :0)

Tuesday Taggers Shades of Autumn

Well my fellow teamies have reaassured me that this is not too wacky lol

So I have done my first ever Journal page

using the theme of "Shades of Autumn"

My new Claudine helmuth paints

And my vast array of stamps

First I made a journal page using newspaper stuck together and a layer or two of gesso to tone down the newsprint. Ive then added the colours of red and orange paint and also some yellow through waste sequin mesh to give some background texture. Ive then added some butterscoth paint dabber paint to add some stripes and circle prints. Ive then stamped some Christmas carol music in one corner and a candelabra in the other. Added some Stampin up trees in brown and green and also leaves in 2 corners. Brown enamel paint in spots then wax seals - a Christmas one, a clock face and a greeting. Added some metallic gold paint dabber to the edges. Right im happy so far - love the colour etc and all the elements now for the journalling.
This reads "I love it when the leaves begin to fall from the treesa and the light fades quickly at night it means I am closer to the most magical time of the year - Christmas" Hmmm not sure I like it now! Maybe I should wait for that jouranlling course before attempting any more - but here I am sharing this with you what do you think? Too Wacky???

Creating of a different kind

Made some backgrounds today which is a bit boring so I thought id share with you what I made on Tuesday.
I have begun my Christmas cake making! I make at least 12 for presents and I do so like them to have chance to mature and "be fed" regularly. This was a receipe my Mother in Law gave me the first Christmas in our own home and its only gone wrong once (when I put too much booze in and the fruit soaked it up then sank to the bottom as it was soooo heavy during cooking!). So I thought id share the recipe

2 bags (2 x 500g)of mixed fruit (I used to buy it from the health shop but these days its the budget version from Morrisons lol)
4oz cherries chopped
4 fl oz sherry - or could be Brandy or Whiskey
10oz butter
8oz dark brown sugar (the darker the better)
10oz plain flour
1/2 level teaspoon of baking powder
1 level teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 level teaspoon mixed spice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
5 large eggs
Optional - 2 tablespoons of apricot jam and 1 teaspoon of black trecle.

Soak fruit overnight in sheery
cream butter and sugar
add flour, spices, eggs, baking powder also jam and trecle if wanted
add pre soaked fruit

Line and grease a 10 inch round or square tin with greaseproof paper. Add mixture then cook at Gas no 1 for 3 1/2 - 4 hours - middle of oven. It should look dark on the top (not black!) and if you insert a metal skewer it should come out clean - this means its cooked perfectly.
I like to pour over more Brandy, Whiskey or Sherry within an hour of it coming out of the oven about 2 capfuls. Once cool wrap in greaseproof paper then tin foil. Add 2 more capfuls of your chosen tipple every 3 weeks until Christmas - decorate as required.
Baking Christmas cakes sounds difficult but trust me its not - just have a go. Just make sure your guests know its a boozy cake so they dont go over the limit! Would love to see your cakes :0)
This year I have been given loads of sweetie tins so I plan to decorate them to present my cakes in - better get on with that soon too!
