Such a slacker.... Weird and wonderful TIOT

Ive been slacking again! This is my late DT piece for Try it on Tuesday with a theme chosen by my gorgeous pal Georgina. Weird and wonderful was the brief so thats what I have done. A really cas card with the TH clock stamp, paper artsy cog stamp and then Mr Umbrella man die cut from some freebie papers. He has his edges inked to bring it all together then the sentiment is by hero arts. Unusual fro me its also an A6 card!
This is card week and we are sponsored again by our lovely friends at One stop card crafts - do stop by the Try it on Tuesday Blog for other weird but wonderful cards - what fun!

Ive been on Nights so am a little tired to say the least but am hoping for a fabby craft day on Thursday with my lovely chum Kerry as I have 2 commissions to make so thats something to look forward to. Happy Crafting folks x Janet

A little scrapping for a change!

This was our last project at craft club - a layout. I was actually the only one who followed a sketch but then thats cos the ladies who come are so talented anyhow they don't need help! We have not scrapbooked for ages so it was lovely to do this. the pics are of my daughter Megs 4th birthday - the cool thing is - see the 3 kiddiwinks in the top RH corner? These were all playgroup friends. Only one of them went onto the same primary school as Megs but they have all joined up again in their teens at Secondary school and become good friends again. I'm hoping to get a pic when they all come round for Megs birthday in October - they will all be in their 16th year!
papers I am not sure about - all the card stock is co-ordinations. the daisy die is from stampin up - love love love it! and the flower and swirl are from Mr Holtz sissix range. It was huge fun to do scrapbooking again so I think we will do more next month too!

Last night I went to see Take That at Manchester city stadium - absolutely amazing! I have NEVER screamed before but did all the usual whooping, squealing and general appreciation showing noises - they were utterly awesome - am hoping my SIL will be sharing some of her pics so I will post them when I get them. If you are going to see the tour - be excited NOW! it is fabulous!
Have a great day folks x Janet

Stamp Man Challenge? Go on then I admit it..........

This week I have run out of time. Why oh why are there only 24 hours in a day? I had one day off on Tuesday and I admit it I wasted my time frivolously! I went out for lunch with friends, drank wine, became a little squiffy so avoided the food shop and then slobbed in front of BGT - there I have confessed - will it be good for the soul I wonder???
Well maybe not because now I have started confession I have to carry on! - See the above pic? this is my DT entry for The Stamp Man challenge - excellent stamp set bringing an olde worldy feel to a mans card - especially watercoloured like this - However here is the confession.........
This is the card - put together by me but designed by my pal for the ladies workshop we run every Friday. The ladies have learning difficulties and have turned out to be excellent artists when it comes to colouring in - so just putting together a card plan and kit is perfect for them - they stamp, they colour, then put it all together. Today we were one short so I did a kit and this is it! So I am an imposter, a slacker and a cheeky mare for sharing this as a DT project (although I have not been so bold as to add it to the SMC blog)- Michelle thought I would not do it but time has been short today and BGT won again this evening( what a fab semi tonight was!) so my time was squandered idlily watching TV (after a food shop I must add) and now we are at the end of Friday. This fab little stamp set is available here at The Stamp Man and is a snip at £4-99 - If you fancy it give them a ring as I cannot find it on the website. Better still treat your self to a trip there before the shop shuts its doors - certainly worth every minute with bargains galore to be had! Will I sleep tonight I wonder for confessing my sins or will guilt keep me awake - shame I drank all the wine...................

The Stamp Man atc swap

A new month a new theme over at The Stamp man atc swap. This months theme is Trees. I have used the Habico oriental stamps this time - the branch is separate to the leaves so the tree has to be built up. I wasn't sure how it would look but am pleased how its turned out. The bird is also a Habico stamp but the friend is an old stamp from my stash - just thought the corner needed a little something!
Hope you play along with us again this month all the details can be found here

Returning to cute!

It was my Friends Jules birthday on Saturday and today we went out for lunch to celebrate. I made her this very girly card - not sure if its quite her but I had fun making it! Jules does not make cards - she does cross stitch although not much these days. Anyway I wanted the friend sentiment on it (SU on the bow), Happy birthday (SU) and of course the gorgeous Tilda (thanks Kerry at least one girl has progressed from face and hair lol)
Kerry also gave me the gorgeous papers which are by die cuts with a view - more of a card stock really. The card blank is from papermania - loving the larger size at the moment. The lush flower and heart button are from another pal Alison - love them too so huge thanks. Shame there isn't a challenge for "things you were given!"
Hope she liked it!
I would like to enter this into the following challenges

Creative card crew - for a diva - this image reminds me of my little niece who is 5 and definitely a diva!
2 sisters challenge - anything goes
Stamp Something - Something sentimental
A spoonfull of sugar - Flower Power
And just Magnolia - Friends

Try it on Tuesday Altered dreams

Its the last Tuesday of the month again so time to alter things at Try it on Tuesday - sponsored by our great friends at the Craft Barn. If you ever plan to visit then this weekend is an excellent time to stop by - Not only is the barn filled with celeb crafters this weekend our fabulous team mate Neil is giving demos there too! Neil is very talented and definitely someone who can fill you with inspiration so do stop by if you can, say hello, stock up on stash and generally have an excellent crafty time!
So onto this weeks theme - alter it with dreams. Chosen by my ultra gorgeous pal Georgina. I may have told you before how wonderful this lady is - in truth there are not words to describe what a wonderful person she is inside and out so I will not go on too much! Anyway Georgina challenged us to alter something with the theme of dreams so I chose this fab little project inspired by another uber talented teamie Yvonne (My team mates inspire me all the time!). A couple of years ago Yvonne made me a gorgeous post if note wallet which has been such a useful as well as decorative gift so I thought I would have a play for another non crafty pal whose birthday was at the weekend. The papers are gorgeous and double sided but have no name so I could not tell you who designed them. The stamp is from ebay eons ago, unmounted again with no name. the flowers, pearls and ribbon are all from stash.
Here is what it looks like inside. Just a little gift but such fun to make. I used mountboard inside the papers to give the cover some strength.
As ever my Try it on Tuesday team mates have been very creative so do stop by and check out all the fun projects. You may like to dream up something yourself............
happy crafting x Janet

Rockin' my world Friday!

So its Friday again Rockettes and I am around to play along. I've been holding back my news all week to share today so I have a BIG NO1 to tell you!

1) I had a specialist appointment on Tuesday and he says I can apply for my license back! Well actually he didn't think I had surrendered it thought I could just drive straight away - I won't query why he doesn't know the laws about what you have to tell the DVLA about your fitness to drive but I know I went through all the proper channels . i may have to wait about 3 weeks before I get the bit of paper and yes I still have to prise the car away from Tim occasionally but it will be sooo good to have that bit of independence back!
2) As always my family and friends for putting up with my foibles, whims and especially my craft obsessions!
3) docrafts - now I have been part of this forum for over 5 years now and it really is an amazing place. Last weekend we found out DD suffers from Polycystic ovarian syndrome in both ovaries. Quite a discovery for a 15 year old to cope with however I asked on docrafts if anyone would be willing to share their "story" via a private email and I was overwhelmed by the lovely response - all positive - giving their story, offering advice , books to read, websites to visit and a whole new forum to introduce us to. This was wonderful and has made the information so much easier for our Megs to cope with - the forum we were told about has a whole teen section to it so she can "chat" to other teens about the problems and how she feels which is great. I have to say I think the docrafts community really is amazing and although most folks you will never meet - they do become cyber friends. I have met folks through it who have become dear friends - So I will always be grateful to docrafts for giving me that community.
4) Crafting friends - the last couple of days has seen me meet up with a few crafting buddies which has been brilliant always good to chat and craft.
5) Colleagues - we have been fighting a difficult issue at work and as ever I seem to have been the spokesperson and getting on the bosses nerves! - the situation reached a head last week when we sent the boss a letter signed by us all outlining our grievance and he agreed to meet with us on Tuesday. I asked everyone to voice their concerns and not just leave it to me and they did! I hardly said anything really as they said it all - it didn't change anything but it did make the Boss see we were all saying the same thing and it really is a group concern. I felt very proud of them. Not sure where we go from here with the issue but it was really heartening to see us working together to try and resolve the whole issue. I was a Union rep for quite some years but stood down about 6 years ago but I really hate injustice and if I think I am not being treated fairly or my colleagues aren't I get quite fired up. Think this is the first time my Boss has seen me like this as I am usually quiet, compliant and always up for doing what needs to be done . Think he is going to see a different side over the next few months as I become inflexible and pedantic about what he wants from me. Such a shame but he really has asked for it LOL. So Yay for solidarity with workmates!
Stop by the Celtic house - home of Rockin' your world Friday and share more positives to kick start a great weekend x
Hope your Friday rocks !!
